Ask an international businessperson which country they think is surviving the recession the best, and one in five of them will answer "Australia".
A study conducted by Servcorp last month in 24 nations asked more than 7500 people which nation they believed was faring the best in these international times of financial hardship.
"Over 71 percent of Australian businesspeople believe we are the lucky country," Servcorp's executive director Taine Moufarrige said. "And it's interesting to see that the rest of the world agrees."
The top 12 countries were:
First: Australia
Second: China
Third equal: India and Singapore
Fifth: Hong Kong
Sixth: Canada
Seventh equal: Japan and Qatar
Ninth: New Zealand
Tenth equal: Malaysia, Sweden and Vietnam
