Beauty and brains

I recently had a conversation with a friend who unknowingly brought up the topic of women's appearance. A recent love interest of my friend told him, "I'm not used to a guy being interested in who I am and what I have to say. Normally, they're just interested in my body."
My initial thoughts centred on how sorry for her I felt but then my mind took me down a different road, the road where men realise that there is more to a woman than meets the eye.
Many women have endeavoured to analyse and explain why straight men seem to always be attracted to blonde-haired, blue-eyed, 21-year-old women or why he is a "tits and ass man". It comes down to one core reason: the evolutionary process of biological reproduction.
Men are born with an innate desire to be attracted to signs of youth and health such as full lips, clear smooth skin, clear eyes, silky hair and toned muscles. It's all supposed to help them identify the woman who is ideal to reproduce their offspring; you know, "knock her up".
As we exist in a modern society and do not live in caves, wearing animal skins and clubbing each other over the head, a broader perspective of looks and appearance needs to be explored.
When pursuing a girl in today's culture, it should be as important what she has to say and not purely just how she looks. We are all aware of the saying, "beauty is only skin-deep".
