Had a big night? Though your head might feel like it's in a vice, your bones will benefit.

A recent analysis of 100 commercial beers concluded they are a significant source of dietary silicon, which is an essential ingredient for bone health.

The average quantities of silicon found in different types of beer varied from 41.2 mg/L for Indian Pale Ale to 17.2 mg/L in light lagers and 16.3 mg/L in non-alcoholic beers.

Although there is no recommended daily intake of silicon, the average American consumes 20 to 50 mg a day.

Of course, many other studies show that consuming more than two drinks a day can be bad for your health.

"Choose the beer you enjoy. Drink it in moderation," said lead researcher Charles Bamforth of the University of California, Davis. "It is contributing silicon (and more) to your good health."

We'll drink to that.
