I reckon if I met Pauline Hanson, and I didn’t know who Pauline Hanson was, I’d probably like her. We’ve got quite a lot in common: we’re both Queenslanders; we both have English ancestry; we both enjoy fish and chips.
Provided conversation didn’t stray into the realm of racial politics (she’d call me an un-Australian, lefty Nancy-boy; I’d accuse her of being a myopic, barely-educated redneck), I think we’d get along famously.
But I do know who Pauline is, and I greet the news of her imminent relocation to Great Britain with sadness. I’m going to miss her. Yes, I was appalled by her fear-mongering bigotry, but you can’t say she wasn’t entertaining.
She and her fellow One Nationers may have damaged Australia’s international reputation, but by George they did it in an amusing way.
So I present to you this: a collection of the high art she inspired. May it comfort you on those cold, lonely, Hanson-less nights.

What do you think about Pauline’s decision to move to the UK? Will you be happy to see the back of her or will you miss her tireless championing of “Australian values”?
