Let's face it: long-term relationships can start to feel stale and boring after a while. Before throwing in the towel when things get bland, here are five tips that will bring you back to bliss.
1. Be spontaneous
Get out of that boring rut you're stuck in, let your hair down and act on a whim. Do something to surprise and excite her: go skydiving or hot air ballooning, whisk her away for a romantic weekend, try a new restaurant, take her out for a night on the town or even try something new in the bedroom. I know what you’re thinking and no, I wouldn’t suggest a threesome to get things back on track – save that one for your birthday!
2. Call her for no reasonDo you only call your girl when a) You want to know where your underwear is or b) you're wondering what’s for dinner and what time it will be ready? Wrong! If you want to keep that buzz alive, call her just to say hi and ask her how her day has been. It’s a small gesture but it can go a long way. Text messages can be sweet, but sometimes a girl just wants to hear your voice.
3. Have a party for two
Going to the pub with the boys is your way of having fun and relaxing, and not for one minute would I suggest you give it up. But how about partying with your girl? Put away those DVDs every so often and bring out the wine, turn up the music and have a party just for two! 4. Get out of the bedroom
Your bedroom is your haven, but it can be responsible for dull and boring sex. Just because you're in a relationship doesn't mean you can’t have sex like you’ve picked up a chick for a one-night stand. Routine sex before bed can lacklustre for the both of you; try different times of the day and different locations. Have a quick shower in the morning together or get it on on the kitchen floor while you're waiting for dinner to cook; let your imagination run wild! But do remember that sex in public is illegal (only if you get caught).
5. Chivalry isn't dead
Some old-fashioned manners go a long way in keeping your relationship alive. Open the door for her, surprise her with flowers, pick up the bill after dinner
– get back to basics! She'll love you for it and hopefully reward you in her own way.
