Through a stroke of sheer luck, a customer at a British bank foiled an attempted robbery on March 31 last year.
Andrew Stewart was reading a newspaper in the Exeter branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland when Brian Davison burst through the door demanding cash from the tellers, the UK's Daily Telegraph reports.
Bonus: Which Hollywood stars have been robbed?Launch GalleryDavison, 32, terrified staff by putting his hand inside his backpack and convincing them it was a handgun. He then demanded the staff hand over money.
Unfazed by the events happening around him, Andrew Stewart put down his newspaper and said to the would be thief, "It's April the first isn't it, mate? It's April Fools' Day"
Stewart then proceeded to grab the backpack from Davison, revealing a menacing looking … hand.
His brilliant plot thwarted, Davison fled the scene but was later arrested and has since pleaded guilty to affray.

See some brilliantly pathetic thieves in the act.
