Man killed by exploding chewing gum

A 25-year-old chemistry student in Ukraine died after chewing exploding gum.
The young man’s relatives heard a loud bang and rushed to his room to find his jaw had been blown off.
Russian news agency Ria Novosti reported that the student used to dip chewing gum in citric acid but that another unidentified chemical substance was found on the piece he was chewing when he died.
Investigators believe he might have confused the two substances and dipped his chewing gum in the lethal chemical.
