Q: “Is there any way I can clean my bathroom and dunny without scrubbing?” Hugh Page, Richmond, NSW
A: “Not exactly, but you can go close," says hygiene hero Shanno Lush. "I can clean my bathroom in nearly nine minutes, top to bottom. You turn the taps in your shower and bathroom sink on so the room is steamy – have the fan off.
"Then put some bi-carb soda into an old parmesan cheese shaker and just scatter a little around the walls. Then have some white vinegar in a spray bottle and lightly spray it – it will fizz. Then use a clean, soft kitchen broom and sweep down the walls and it’s done.”
Really? “Yes! It disinfects your bathroom, cleans better than anything else, and won’t damage any of the surfaces. It gets into all the corners, too.
"And sprinkle your toilet with bi-carb soda, then spray it with white vinegar, then give it a wipe down with a toilet brush and it’s done.
“And if you do want to give anything a wipe down without going to the bother of getting the bi-carb soda and vinegar out, just use some pantyhose balled up into a knot. It takes soap scum off in one wipe, no effort involved. It’s the most effective cleaner I’ve ever seen. And that will literally work on all the hard surfaces. As well as in the kitchen and on anything that’s stainless steel. You don’t have to use any other cleaners, nothing.”
