Two-dollar pizza

Red onion and crème fraîche pizzas
Serves 4 (or one)

Ingredients:
1 large, ready-made pizza base
25g (1 oz) butter
2 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for drizzling
3 large red onions, peeled and thinly sliced
250g (9 oz) full-fat crème fraîche (half-fat is too runny)
6 fat garlic cloves, peeled
4 sprigs fresh thyme
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

Preparation: 5 minutes
Cooking: 25 minutes

  • This is very much like the French-Swiis pizza called Flamme kuchen only it has a thinner base and we use thin slices of bacon as well as onion. Very easy and yummy.

  • Sounds absolutely delicious but where in Brisbane can I buy creme fraiche. We've had it when overseas but cannot find it in our local shops

  • You should be able to buy it at Woolies, in their fresh cheese section near the deli

  • Its ok but the Pizza base costs more then $2 at most supermarkets its $6 not cheap when you can go to a pizza shop and get a medium pizza for around $7.

  • It's actually not 2 dollars because pizza the already made pizza base is well over 4 dollars.
